My Course Schedule (finally!)

Pre-registration Period. None of the business courses I wanted to take this semester were on the Online Course Pre-selection list, sent out in an email in November, so I had to wait to add my courses during the add/drop period last week. Yes, that meant I did not know what courses I would get until after I came to my university. However, I did my part to prepare. I noted which transferrable courses I wanted to take from Shidler's Course Equivalencies chart, turned in waiver forms with my transcript (unofficial transcripts are accepted) to prove that I took the prerequisites for those courses, and talked to my advisor and professors.
Add/Drop Period. Every student at CUHK had the chance to add or drop their courses once the add/drop period started, so you could imagine just how hectic it was once it hit 8:30pm on Monday. To summarize, out of the four classes I was trying to enroll in, I got one, was on the waitlist for two, and needed approval for the last one. It did worry me a bit, but I did not have much choice but to wait or be flexible and look at what my other options were.

Adjustments. Although my schedule is not what I expected it to be, I had to remember my priorities:
be enrolled in four 3-credit courses to be considered a full time student
finish up my business core courses by taking course equivalents to BUS 312 (Principles of Marketing) and BUS 313 (Economic and Financial Environment of Global Business)
take Human Resource Management and/or Marketing electives for my majors
schedule my courses together so that I had a longer weekend
Honestly, it all worked out and I even went beyond my expectations:
I am a full time international student taking 15 credits
I am enrolled in courses being used to fulfill my degree in Marketing and HR Management
Even though I could not condense my schedule to two days, I cannot complain because I still have a four day weekend every week to catch up on my sleep, studies, and traveling ~
Tip #1: Even though you might not be enrolled in the course until the add/drop period, attend the first week of school to see if you like the professor's teaching style and format of the course.
Tip #2: Follow the course prerequisites for the international university (BUS 312 is the prerequisite for MKT 321 back at UH Manoa, but I only needed to have passed statistics for that marketing course at CUHK).
